KAMINSKY JOINS ABEL MOTORSPORTS IN THE NO. 57 INDY NXT by FIRESTONE ENTRY

Speedway, Indiana

Colin Kaminsky will be making the next step on his journey to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, moving from the Indy Pro 2000 category into the newly rebranded INDY NXT by Firestone series with Abel Motorsports. Kaminsky will be piloting the No. 57 Slick Locks branded Dallara, starting with round 1 on the Streets of St. Petersburg Florida.

Kaminsky joins the Abel Motorsports team after an impressive showing in a shortened Indy Pro 2000 season that saw Kaminsky score 3 podium finishes at Barber Motorsports Park and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After 2 successful test days (Sebring International Raceway & Homestead-Miami Speedway) in the Dallara IL-15, both spent with Abel Motorsports, Kaminsky really feels that he is ready to make the jump into the INDY NXT by Firestone series.

“I’m extremely excited to have joined Abel Motorsports for the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season. Bill (Abel) has put together a sensational team, who all have years of experience in the series dating back over 20 years. This really reassures me that I’m with a team capable of winning and competing at a high level. On top of that, they all have big personalities and make the environment a blast to be around,” said Colin Kaminsky.

While Kaminsky doesn’t have as much seat time as his competitors, the Homer Glen Illinois native knows the INDY NXT by Firestone series is where he wants to be to continue his development as an open-wheel driver.

“This will be my first season in INDY NXT by Firestone so I’m trying to learn as much as I can and compete to the best of my ability. This is the perfect spot for me to further ignite my ambitions of making it to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and I can’t wait to get the ball rolling in St. Petersburg. Let’s ride.”

Always looking to add talent to the roster at Abel Motorsports, Bill Abel, believes that this move will once again be doing just that.

“We are really excited to have Colin join Abel Motorsports for the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season. Colin tested very well last summer in his first outing in our car, and he followed that up with a great test at Homestead in January. His talent, experience, and methodical approach will be a great addition to our driver roster,” said Bill Abel.

Colin Kaminsky and Abel Motorsports will get the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season started on the tricky downtown streets of St. Petersburg Florida on March 5th with the green flag waving at 9:55am ET.  Keep up with all things Abel Motorsports by following the team on social media @abelmotorsports.
